Comments / Narrative

They formed in 2009 in order to organize waste pickers from the landfills and to change their working conditions. Now there is more solidarity and security among themselves. They collect only in the dumps where they get more than 4T of paper every 15 days, 40 T of cardboard each day and 10 T of plastic. Those who collect cardboard store their materials in groups of 4 (there are about 100 some recyclers/waste pickers) and those who collect plastic are in groups of 2. The community sale of materials happens in the district, but not in Santiago de los Caballeros.
