Organization Structure
They work at the landfill and gathered together because many landfills have been privatized and the mapping of the RedLAcre served to open their eyes so they could organize themselves so as not to privatize the landfill. There are 18 cities where apparently there are Waste pickers organizations, but there is no National organization. Not everyone has a formal organization, but if they do, they are called Cooperatives. Although there are 120 members, at the landfills there are 1200, 350 of whom are women.
