Published by the Participatory Sustainable Waste Management Project: On December 14th and 15th 2011, the Participatory Sustainable Waste Management project (PSWM) has held a 2-day seminar in São Paulo, Brazil. The major objectives were to celebrate the continuous dedication and activities towards capacity building of the recycling coops, inclusive solid waste management policy design and the promotion of resource recovery over waste, by the project participants during the past six years. Among the audience were over seventy catadores (recyclers), several representatives from local governments, NGOs and universities. Furthermore a number of experts working on inclusive solid waste management and recycling arrived from different regions in Brazil and from Lima, Peru; Buenos Aires, Argentina and Berlin, Germany to participate in the event.
