CHENNAI: The Chennai Corporation’s plan to generate electricity from garbage has been slammed by environmentalists and waste management experts. In a bid to tackle the growing garbage mounds at dumping yards in Kodangaiyur and Perungudi, the corporation had passed a resolution at its first council meeting saying non-recyclable waste would be burnt to generate power.
