BANGALORE: Next time when you throw dry waste outside, think twice. Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) will pay you `2 per kilo of dry waste thanks to its dry waste management centres which were inaugurated at Yelahanka zone on Wednesday.
A press release from BBMP said that MLA Vishwanath and BBMP Standing Committee Chairperson (Health) Geetha Shashikumar inaugurated the centres at Ward Numbers 1 to 4. To manage these centres, BBMP has signed memoranda of understanding with ITC and Hasiru Dala.
These organisations have recruited ragpickers who will segregate dry waste like plastic, paper, metal and glass and later it will be sold to the concerned for recycling. Read original article
