South African Waste Pickers’ Meeting during COP17

Abstract

South African waste pickers met during COP17 in a closed meeting to discuss the constitution of the South African Waste Pickers’ Association and the Code of Conduct for waste pickers on landfill sites and in streets. The South African Waste Pickers’ Association was launched in February 2010 and it has drawn up draft principles of the organization. Members continued to discuss this draft in the December meeting.
