Comments / Narrative
Ruth learnt waste reclaiming business activities from her uncle. She was supporting him and realised that waste reclaiming businesses can be profitable. She formed Ebenezer scrap metal business as a self employed business for her livelihood income. She started off by borrowing Ksh. 30,000.00 as a working capital to buy reclaimed materials from waste pickers, she then hired an open space for materials consolidation at Ksh. 3,000.00/month rent. From here she started off by buying small quantities of various reclaimed waste streams and selling immediately for income.
