- The organization preserves the environment by encouraging the segregation of garbage in the kitchen into: compostable, recyclable, and residual, to reduce air, water, and land pollution, reduce the demand for water and energy used in processing paper, plastics, bottles, and metals, and to save trees in the forest, oil under the sea, iron ore in the mountains, and sand on the beach.
